Hamilton only learned from one F1 team mate

Lewis Hamilton says that he generally never learned anything from his successive F1 teammates, but there was however one exception.

Given his competitive relationship with Nico Rosberg at Mercedes, which culminated with the German driver beating the Briton last year and then retiring from the sport, one could be led to believe that Hamilton took something away from his team mate.

But Hamilton gave Rosberg zero credit in his development as a driver.

"No. Zero," he told CNN. "From all my teammates that I’ve raced with, I don’t generally take much from them.

The 2017 world champion did however emphasize the role played by Fernando Alonso at McLaren in 2007, his maiden year in F1.

"I’d say probably the only teammate I’ve ever really learned something from would have been Fernando -- it was my first year in F1.

"After that, I would say I was able to have the experience, so I never felt I was taking anything from another driver.

"I was just always trying to enhance and unlock my own abilities."
