With McLaren providing a reliable car, Button showed his experience in an incident-filled grand prix to bring it home in the points. Having outqualified team-mate Fernando Alonso and made Q2, a strong start put him inside the top ten but the speed differential was frightening as numerous cars passed the slow McLaren on the straights leaving him powerless to defend.
