Williams appeared to struggle somewhat on a circuit where it had been competitive a year ago. Lost out to Valtteri Bottas in qualifying and was jumped by Carlos Sainz at the start but managed to fight back quickly against the Toro Rosso. Soon became apparent he didn’t have the pace to challenge Red Bull but Massa kept Hulkenberg honest and was able to keep the fast-charging Grosjean at bay over the final laps.
