F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2021 Styrian GP

Sebastian Vettel (P12): 6/10
After a couple of races suggesting that the former four-time world champion had got his mojo back, this was a bit of a return to his early season malaise for Sebastian Vettel. And it can't be blamed on the hardware given that his Aston Martin team mate Lance Stroll managed to reap some points on Sunday. He did well enough in practice - sixth fastest on Friday afternoon - but always looked an outside bet to make it into the final round of qualifying, and sure enough was left to line up in 14th place for the start of the race. Incidents elsewhere helped him gain two places on the first lap, and Daniel Ricciardo's engine problems gifted him a further spot on lap 7, but once he pitted he was back in 14th and trailing Yuki Tsunoda. His former Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc came motoring past on lap 49, and yet another former Maranello colleague - Kimi Raikkonen - eased around him on lap 67. "I was struggling for grip towards the end," he explained. "When everyone is so closely matched, these factors can really impact your race and the final result."

Kimi Raikkonen (P11): 7/10
Absent from first practice where he was replaced by Alfa Romeo's reserve driver Robert Kubica, Kimi Raikkonen was on the back foot for the rest of the weekend and never really looked all that likely to survive the cut at the end of the first round of qualifying, leaving him a disappointing 18th on the grid for Sunday's race. The Finn responded as he so often does in such adversity, by pulling off a thrilling start that gained him five positions as he dodged the mayhem triggered by the Charles Leclerc/Pierre Gasly clash. He gained another position on lap 7 when Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren suffered brief power unit problems, and after that settled into 12th place behind Sebastian Vettel as he embarked on a 36 lap first stint. The second half of the race saw him behind his team mate Antonio Giovinazzi, until on lap 57 he was finally able to get past the Italian. Despite having his front wing trodden on by Charles Leclerc, he had the satisfaction of passing former Ferrari team mate Sebastian Vettel on lap 67 to pick up 11th place just before the chequered flag came out, preventing him challenging Yuki Tsunoda for the final points-paying position.
