F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2023 Italian GP

Lance Stroll (P16): 4/10
The season feels to be sliding away from Lance Stroll, although what happened in Monza was by no means entirely down to him. Having to sit out first practice in favour of Aston Martin reserve Felipe Drugovich was bad enough, but on top of that he had no running in FP2 because of a fuel system issue. Losing all of Friday would have been bad enough for even a top driver, and unfortunately Stroll isn't at that level at the best of times. Slowest of anyone in qualifying and starting from the back, a long 20-lap initial stint on mediums came to little and he spent the second half of the race battling it out with the likes of Haas and Alpine over very little.

Pierre Gasly (P15): 6.5/10
After his unexpected podium last week in Zandvoort, it was back down to earth with a bump for Pierre Gasly and for Alpine as a whole this week. Going into qualifying, the Frenchman suggested that they would be lucky to make the first cut; and sure enough neither he nor team mate Esteban Gasly were able to do so. Gasly's race was further compromised by front jack issues on his first of two pit stops that came on lap 10. Gasly said he gave everything this weekend but the truth is that the A523 was looking off-colour right from the start, and just couldn't provide anything like the performance he needed.
