F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2023 Italian GP

Zhou Guanyu (P14): 5.5/10
Zhou Guanyu really struggled at Monza and was in the bottom two in all three practice sessions. In the circumstances he was always going to miss the first cut in qualifying, but at least by then he had perked up and was 16th, missing out on Q2 by a mere half a tenth. The team elected to put him on a two stop strategy (compared to a single stop for his Alfa Romeo team mate Valtteri Bottas), starting with 11 laps on a set of new mediums, but he was still only 15th in the closing laps at which point he did at least manage to pass Lance Stroll for some small satisfaction at the chequered flag.

Logan Sargeant (P13): 5.5/10
Logan Sargeant looked good on the hard tyres this weekend, but the drawback with the Alternative Tyre Allocation format is that this will only get you as far as Q2 at which point you have to excel on mediums - and the American rookie simply wasn't able to. While his team mate Alex Albon made the final round, Sargeant tapped out in P15 which is really no mans land in terms of race opportunities. He was initially stuck behind Liam Lawson, then Zhou Guanyu, and then overtaken by Valtteri Bottas on lap 43. The pair made contact at turn 4 and Sargeant was blamed by the stewards for it with a five second penalty leaving him over half a minute behind Albon at the line. Maybe Sargeant's is a fair reflection of Williams' true pace right now, but the problem is the team really wants another Albon.
