Pierre Gasly, Alpine (SP14, P12): 6.5/10
Pierre Gasly had a solid weekend and should have reaped some points in Austin, especially after getting through to the final round of qualifying and securing a start from sixth on the grid fpr Sunday. Unfortunately a protracted pit stop during the race undid all his good work and plunged him all the way down to P16 from which there was no return, although he did successfully retrieve four places over the remainder of the afternoon.
Kevin Magnussen, Haas (SP7, P11, 2 pts): 7/10
Kevin Magnussen had a great time in Friday's sprint qualifying and started Saturday's race from P8, where he ended up overtaking his Haas team mate Nico Hulkenberg during the course of the race to pick up two points. Unfortunately his luck turned against him for the Grand Prix: despite making it through to Q3 in qualifying, he lost out on Sunday with an long pit stop and missed out on points at the end of the Grand Prix.
