Valtteri Bottas, Sauber (P18): 5/10
It's the first race since Sauber confirmed that they were letting Valtteri Bottas go at the end of the season, and perhaps that left the Finn somewhat deflated in Las Vegas. He finished bottom in qualifying bar Lance Stroll, who had been all-but sidelined with an ERS issue. Aiming for a one-stop strategy in the race, he started on hard tyres and ran as high as seventh before switching to mediums, but the excessive tyre wear took its toll and a second stop left him running at the back, going a lap down by the finish with few redeeming features to his campaign.
Esteban Ocon, Alpine (P17): 6/10
Second last time out in Brazil, the same spark was never on display for Esteban Ocon and Alpine in Las Vegas. He wasn't able to break into the top ten in any of the practice sessions and remained just outside at the conclusion of qualifying. While he maintained 11th place in the opening laps for the race, he fell back to earth with a bump by taking an early pit stop on lap 10 from which he never really recovered. After that he toiled to the finish on a three-stop strategy, a lap down and two minutes behind the race winner at the chequered flag, which rather says it all.
