Charles Leclerc, Ferrari (P4, 12 pts): 7.5/10
Charles Leclerc hadn't been best pleased to finish qualifying in fourth place - he was on pole here a year ago - but he put that behind him with a flying start that saw him leapfrog Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz and slip into P2 by the first corner. Unfortunately the opening laps seemed to take a lot out of his tyres and he dropped behind Sainz and was alarmingly off the pace before pitting on lap 9. A new set of tyres restored his fortunes and he was up to second behind George Russell before his next pit stop. He followed team mate Carlos Sainz passing Max Verstappen in the remaining laps, but was fuming that Sainz had been allowed to pass him again. He turned the air blue with his expletive-laden complaints, for which we're prudishly deducting half a point from his rating.
Carlos Sainz, Ferrari (P3, 15 pts): 8/10
With Carlos Sainz' exit from Ferrari just a couple of weeks away, the Spaniard seems to be laying down some markers for the future. He is no longer content with being the compliant support driver and the team leader's best buddy. He Flew to second place in qualifying, only to be bundled back to P3 at the start of the race when his Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc flew past him off the line into the first corner. He kept his cool and was well-placed to take P2 back when Leclerc's pace fell off a cliff due to tyre wear. There was nothing to do about Lewis Hamilton's charge but Sainz took care of business with an unusually acquiescent Max Verstappen to put him back on the podium by the chequered flag. Leclerc was not happy with how it had all happened, but Sainz seemed pretty relaxed and happy with the outcome.
