F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2024 Qatar GP

Liam Lawson, RB (P14): 6.5/10
A low grid position (17th) pointed to a challenging start for Lawson. Yet the RB charger made the most of the opening lap incidents to clock in 14th at the end of the first lap, a position from which he could perhaps build a solid base. It wasn’t to be however, as the Kiwi tangled with Valtteri Bottas while attempting to overtake the Sauber driver. That, and a 10-second penalty for his misdeed, pushed him down the order and into an anonymous run to P14 at the checkered flag. The Red Bull hopeful will need a spirited drive and a good result next weekend at Yas Marina to uphold his hopes of competing for Sergio Perez’s race seat.

Yuki Tsunoda, RB (P13): 7/10
For all the on-track action that took place up and down the field in the Qatar Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda enjoyed a relatively quiet evening at the races. From 14th on the grid, he powered his way up into the top ten in the opening stages of the races, but then drifted back into the third tier of the midfield. His efforts weren’t without merit but RB’s VCARB 01 was never a strong contender.
