Lando Norris, McLaren (P10): 8/10
In Qatar, McLaren appeared on course to breaking out the champagne with one race to spare as F1’s Constructors’ Champions, as Lando Norris looked set to finish, at the very least, in second place, with Oscar Piatsri just behind. But the former’s failure to slow under yellow flags earned Norris a 10-second stop and go penalty that not only ruined McLaren’s early coronation but also destroyed a very strong race by Norris. The Briton receives no commendation for what was clearly a rookie error.
Kevin Magnussen, Haas (P9): 8.5/10
For an F1 driver, it appears that staring at the unemployment line is worth a couple of tenths. Kevin Magnussen is most likely just one race away from concluding his career in F1, but the Dane is as combative and feisty as his first season in the sport. K-Mag came out on top of a thrilling wheel-to-wheel tussle with Alex Albon and then managed to protect his position among the top ten to cross the checkered flag a creditable P9. F1 will certainly miss the indomitable fighting spirit and unyielding tenacity of its resident Viking.
