At the end of the 2010 season, Marussia Motors, a Russian sports car company founded in 2007, acquired a stake in the team and became the main sponsor, with the outfit renamed Marussia Virgin Racing for 2011 and competing under a Russian licence.
Timo Glock signed up for a second season while Belgian Jerome D'Ambrosio replaced di Grassi. The team's best result was a 14th place finish achieved twice by D'Ambrosio, in Australia and in Canada.
