Tech F1i – Bahrain GP analysis

SHINE A LIGHT

During the race, run under the floodlights of Bahrain International Circuit, one could often spot a light under the front end of the Toro Rosso STR12 (see white arrows). It is an optical speed sensor (red arrow). To that end, the light needs to pass through the monocoque, hence one part of it being replaced with a translucent component (yellow arrows).

This technical review is a selection of the novelties introduced in Bahrain and does not aim to be an exhaustive list. One will also notice that Sauber had revised rear-view mirrors and Haas a new front wing with three upper flaps instead of two.
