Tech F1i: Keeping cool in Bahrain

In Bahrain, the Faenza-based team mounted a spoon-shaped rear wing on the STR13 which it had briefly tested on Saturday morning in Australia.

By reducing the angle of attack near the endplates, the Faenza engineers have ensured that the pressure difference between each side of the main board is less important on the edges than in the middle. The design helps curb the wing-tip vortices, which create drag, while also fostering top-end speed, an important performance factor around Bahrain International Circuit.
