For only the second time in the season it was Rosberg who seemed quicker of the two Mercedes' drivers throughout the weekend, but Hamilton secured another pole thanks to an error from his team-mate. Rosberg bounced back by leading out of Turn 1 and then Hamilton carelessly cut the pit exit to get a time penalty which ended his hopes of victory and cut his championship lead to 10 points.
