Thanks to the engine sanctions to the Red Bull squad, the Spaniard was able to start higher up the grid than where his car deserved to be! In a rare drop in form, he wasn’t able to pick up a single position at the off and made a very early stop for tyres. He got the better of his future McLaren successor Sainz while also keeping an eye on Stroll. Now Fernando heads to Japan for an F1-WEC double dip in the coming fortnight.
