Even though he was bested again by Ocon in qualifying, Sergio wasn’t disappointed to start on the hypersofts. As planned, with the supersofts, he moved up the order and was P7 when he came in for fresh rubber during the VSC. He battled hard with Leclerc for eighth when the brakes gave way, leading to the first non-points result for the Mexican driver in his home GP.
