FORCE INDIA GOES FLAT(-OUT)

Force India’s VJM08 featured a new rear wing in Mexico, which had a flatter outline overall (compare white arrows above).

One can also notice the series of profiles in the area where the wing’s endplates and horizontal planes meet. This area does not fall under the scope of Article 3.10.1.a of the FIA technical regulations, which reads: “When viewed from the side of the car, no longitudinal vertical cross section may have more than two sections in this area, each of which must be closed.”

These profiles help clean the airflow and keep it attached to the bodywork (otherwise it would turn into turbulent airflow)

Force India slightly modified its front brake ducts, while also racing the new front wing it had tested at Austin.
