Yuki Tsunoda, RB (P12): 7.5/10
RB had a stunning start to the weekend with both cars finishing Friday practice in the top six, and Yuki Tsunoda looking particularly strong. While Daniel Ricciardo fell away on Saturday, Tsunoda maintained that form into final practice and qualifying and put himself into the top ten for Sunday's start. Unfortunately he had the two Ferraris out of position right behind him, and the usual melee when the race got underway cost him three positions which he was never able to recover. Switching to soft tyres for the final 28 laps was a bad call by the team, who also delayed the critical call to order Ricciardo to allow Tsunoda past which thwarted any chance he had of working his way past Franco Colapinto for the rest of the evening. It was a good drive from the driver but the team seemed to be doing its best to throw away any chances that presented themselves.
Franco Colapinto, Williams (P11): 7.5/10
After a decent debut in Monza and a stand-out follow-up appearance in Baku, Franco Colapinto was unfortunate to narrowly miss out on a second consecutive week of points, despite Singapore not being anything like as conducive to getting the best out of the Williams FW46. Colapinto continues to compare favourably with his highly rated team mate Alex Albon, in exactly the way that his predecessor Logan Sargeant never could. He's also proving quite ruthless and the way he made up three places at the start at the cost of holding up Albon (who lost four places in the same corner) displayed his ambition, although there may be words over it back at Grove before Austin. A 29-lap stint on mediums saw him peak in sixth, but he dropped out of the top ten with his pit stop and never quite regained it, although he well to did hold off Yuki Tsunoda to the finish.
