The top 10 most consecutive laps led in F1

2. Senna

  1. Ayrton Senna: 264 laps (1988 British Grand Prix / 1988 Italian Grand Prix)

1988 or the first year in the electrifying battle between the invincible McLaren-Hondas of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. In England, Ferrari locked out the front row but the Brazilian edged out Gerhard Berger for the lead on Lap 14 before scampering away. Senna then claimed pole at Hockenheim and went on to lead every single lap of the German Grand Prix (44). The Brazilian repeated the feat at Budapest (78 laps) and Spa-Francorchamps (43 laps), where team-mate Prost finished half a minute in arrears. Senna looked primed to extend the series at Monza only to clash with Williams stand-in Jean-Louis Schlesser when trying to overtake the backmarker at the first chicane on Lap 49. The misunderstanding proved quite costly indeed, with the Brazilian looking like a surefire victor for the fifth consecutive time.
