The top 10 most consecutive laps led in F1

Formula 1 Grand Prix, Turkey, Sunday Race

  1. Mark Webber: 159 laps (2010 Spanish Grand Prix / 2010 Turkish Grand Prix)

Mark Webber is the only driver in this top 10 who has never won a world championship, though the Australian came quite close in 2010. Lining up on pole at Barcelona, the Red Bull driver fended off attacks from team-mate Sebastian Vettel, McLaren-Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso throughout the 66-lap race to take the chequered flag. Webber was on pole position again two weeks later at Monaco and converted it into a second consecutive victory despite having to deal with four Safety Car periods. Fastest in qualifying at Istanbul Park, the Aussie held off Vettel for the opening 16 laps before the pair’s infamous collision allowed McLaren to sneak through and claim a 1-2. Although Webber managed to salvage a podium finish in Turkey, the incident would strain the relationship between him and the Milton Keynes-based team, probably beyond repair.
