- Kimi Raikkonen: 162 laps (2005 Spanish Grand Prix – 2005 European Grand Prix)
Although Fernando Alonso and Renault eventually proved the mightier combination in 2005, Kimi Raikkonen enjoyed a period of uninterrupted success when the F1 circus returned to Europe that year. Starting from pole at Barcelona, the Flying Finn quickly disappeared in the distance to lead all 66 laps. Raikkonen extended the momentum around the streets of Monaco where he remained unassailable for 78 laps. The McLaren-Mercedes ace then dominated the opening 18 laps of the European Grand Prix held at the Nürburgring. Pit stops meant Raikkonen had to momentarily relinquish top spot but he was still set to secure his third consecutive win when a spectacular suspension failure due to a flat spotted tyre handed title rival Alonso the victory on the final lap.
