The top 10 most consecutive laps led in F1

10. Prost

  1. Alain Prost: 156 laps (1988 Portuguese Grand Prix / 1988 Japanese Grand Prix)

Lining up on pole position at Estoril, Alain Prost saw McLaren-Honda team-mate and fellow front row starter Ayrton Senna jump into the lead at the first corner. The Frenchman struck back immediately by re-claiming his position on the second lap and stayed put until the chequered flag. One week later at Jerez, Prost outrun pole sitter Senna to the first corner and went on leading all 72 laps of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Brazilian secured pole again at Suzuka but his French team-mate beat him off the line once more and spent the opening 15 laps in front. Senna would eventually outrace Prost to defeat him fair and square. The next two instalments of the Japanese Grand Prix would prove a much more fiery affair between the two archenemies.
