- Jim Clark: 186 laps (1963 Mexican Grand Prix / 1964 Monaco Grand Prix)
Jim Clark claimed seven wins out of 10 races in 1963, en route to clinching his first F1 world title. In Mexico, all his opponents could see for 65 laps was the rear of the Scot’s Lotus 25-Climax. Second-placed and then double world champion Jack Brabham crossed the finish line some 1min40s off the race winner. Clark did it again at the South African Grand Prix where he led all 85 laps and beat Dan Gurney by 1min6s. Monaco served as the season opener in 1964 and Clark looked set to kick off his title defence in the best possible manner when, having led from pole for 36 laps, his engine started to stutter before it failed. Clark would still be classified fourth.
