The top 10 most consecutive laps led in F1

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Singapore Grand Prix - Race Day - Singapore, Singapore

  1. Sebastian Vettel: 205 laps (2012 Singapore Grand Prix / 2012 Indian Grand Prix)

Lining up third on the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix grid, Sebastian Vettel initially followed the two McLaren-Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. Following Hamilton’s retirement, the German inherited the lead and kept it for the final 37 laps to take the chequered flag. At Suzuka, Vettel steamrolled the competition over the 53-lap race and made it two wins in a row. Team-mate Mark Webber was on pole for the Korean Grand Prix but Vettel’s better getaway elevated him to P1 on the opening lap, a place he never relinquished throughout the 55-lap event. The same scenario unfolded in India, where Vettel sailed to victory after leading all 60 laps. The German’s impressive domination – remember that pit stops have been mandatory for several seasons– would finally come to an end in Abu Dhabi where the then 25-year-old had to start from the pit lane. Mind you, this did not prevent him from scything through to field to secure P3!
