Williams FW40 Front Wing

OPENWORK FRONT WING PILLARS ON THE FW40

Among the many novelties introduced by Williams in Austria were the revised nose and openwork front wing pillars, which are structural elements that also play a major aerodynamic role. The aperture is designed to allow a stream of air under nose, which adds energy to the air flowing towards the turning vanes. The design is similar to what McLaren had on last year’s MP4-31 (the 2017-spec MCL32 features front wing pillars with three dents within).
