Edged in qualifying by Bottas, Hamilton got off the line clean to take the lead. He was in total control when his team didn’t bring him in during the VSC, while his rivals switched to the Pirelli yellows. When he did make the switch he was out of the top three and in traffic. After a second stop he was in damage control mode, pushing on for points when the new Mercedes powertrain brought his streak of 33 races in the points to a bitter end.
