Perez followed Hulkenberg home after probably running the wrong strategy in hindsight. The only driver to make a one-stop race work, Perez ran long on the soft tyre at the start of the race and it left him out of track position. Opting to stay out under the safety car, Perez didn’t regain any ground but still had enough tyre life to hold station ahead of cars on fresh tyres. Two passes in the stadium section were the highlight for the home fans.
