Paul Ricard

The circuit which sits second on the list of French tracks to host the most races, Paul Ricard is another which featured more than one configuration in its history. The first French Grand Prix was hosted on the original full circuit in 1971, with Jackie Stewart winning on the 5.861km track. Dominating this layout was the 1.8km Mistral Straight which then led in to the fast right-hander at Signes.

The full layout was used for the final time in 1985, with Nelson Piquet winning for Brabham. However, following Elio de Angelis' fatal crash during testing on the full circuit a year later, a shorter version of the circuit was used from 1986-90 which saw the drivers turn right at the end of the pit straight to re-join in the middle of the Mistral Straight.
