Rouen-Les-Essarts

Sharing with Reims for many years - though going as long as five years between races - was another public road circuit at Rouen. The track hosted five grands prix in total, having opened in 1950 with purpose-built pits and grandstands, with the first French GP being held on its original 5.1km layout in 1952.

The remaining editions took place on the extended 6.5km layout, with the track featuring the fearsome 'Six Freres' downhill section of sweeping corners following the start-finish straight. It was on this section of circuit that Jo Schlesser was killed in 1968, the final time the circuit hosted the race.
