Dijon

A case of getting it wrong first time out, Dijon hosted the French Grand Prix for the first time in 1974 but found the short 3.289km circuit was not suitable for F1 cars which could lap in under a minute and caused traffic to be a major issue. After a reprofiling, the race returned to a 3.8km version of the track which would see one of the most iconic French GPs in history.

In 1979, Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux were involved in a thrilling battle for second place in the closing laps, with the pair often banging wheels throughout the fight in a race won by Jean-Pierre Jabouille. The circuit only hosted two more French GPs - the last of which was held in 1984 - though it did also appear on the calendar in 1982 as the venue for the Swiss Grand Prix.
