Logan Sargeant (Sprint P19, GP P10, 1 pt): 6/10
This was Logan Sargeant's second home Grand Prix of the season (after Miami in May) and after a decent showing in practice where he was P11, he plunged to the bottom of the timesheets in qualifying and in Saturday's Showdown and Sprint races, which meant the outlook for the Grand Prix looked bleak. He was put on a conservative two tyre strategy on Sunday and played it safe, never straying too far away from the back of his Williams team mate Alex Albon. The pair finished just outside the top ten, which was about right. Then came news of disqualifications for two drivers ahead and Sargeant was told he'd clinched his first F1 world championship point - the first American to do so since Michael Andretti 30 years ago. Maybe things are looking up at last for the beleaguered rookie?
Alexander Albon (Sprint P9, GP P9, 2 pts): 6.5/10
Alex Albon was in the top ten in practice, so missing the first cut in qualifying was deeply frustrating for the Williams driver who has become a fixture of Q2 and a frequent visitor to the top ten pole shootout round. Saturday showed that this had been an anomaly when he made it through to SQ3 but despite an aggressive strategy he failed to make headway in the sprint and finished just outside the points He had a solid race on Sunday despite a penalty for exceeding track limits which meant he looked to have just fallen short of the points for the second time in 24 hours - until news came of the shock disqualifications which promoted him to P9. He admitted that he'd been lucky, but pointed out that they had put themselves in the right spot to benefit when the luck came calling.
