Yuki Tsunoda (Sprint P14, GP P8, Fastest Lap, 5 pts): 7/10
Yuki Tsunoda was knocking on the door of the top ten on Friday but just missed out on qualifying. Nonetheless he was in good spirits and seemed happy to have Daniel Ricciardo back as his team mate. He stumbled in the Showdown but impressed in the Sprint with a gain of five places, and he took that confidence booster into Sunday's Grand Prix. Even so it looked like he was going to miss out on the points until Fernando Alonso's late retirement promoted him to P10. The subsequent disqualifications of Hamilton and Leclerc only added to his joy - and to his points haul.
Lance Stroll (Sprint DNQ - Lap 17, GP P7, 6 pts): 6/10
It's been a tough, rotten spell for Lance Stroll who hasn't accrued any points for Aston Martin since the Belgian Grand Prix before the summer break. And this weekend didn't start any better for the Canadian, who suffered brake issues in practice that limited him to just five laps. Small wonder that he missed the first cut in qualifying later on Friday. With more laps under his belt he improved in the Showdown and reached the second round, but more brake issues meant he retired from the Sprint. The team made changes to the AMR23 overnight, mandating a start from pit lane (once the team retrieved the car from the grid where he'd gone in error). Not very auspicious! Yet from such ashes, a really solid race performance saw him finish in the points even before the disqualifications kicked in to make things even better for him. A welcome and timely break for Lance.
