Liam Lawson, RB (P16): 6.5/10
After his success earning points on his return to F1 last week in Austin with RB, it was back to a more sobering level this time out in Mexico. Liam Lawson was in the top ten for all three practice sessions only to miss out on the final round of qualifying itself, having to settle for P12 on the grid. He gained two places at the start thanks to the Albon/Tsunoda incident, but then got into a protracted bad-tempered spat with his Red Bull stablemate Sergio Perez that cost both men dearly. Lawson subsequently made contact with Franco Colapinto in the closing laps and was forced to pit late on for a new front wing. That left him running last on track, at least until Perez made a late stop for fresh tyres in a bid to block Ferrari and McLaren taking the bonus point for the fastest lap.
Zhou Guanyu, Sauber (P15): 5/10
Heaving into his final F1 races, Zhou Guanyu seems to be racing under an invisibility cloak, because there was almost no sign of the Sauber all weekend. He picked up three places due to the early retirements of Yuki Tsunoda, Alex Albon and Fernando Alonso, and was running in his usual spot at the back until lap 66 when Liam Lawson's contact with Franco Colapinto and Sergio Perez' late stop for fresh tyres in an unsuccessful bid to snatch the bonus for the fastest lap denied him his rightful finish in last place.
