Max Verstappen, Red Bull (P6, 8 pts): 5/10
Max Verstappen looked back in form last week in United States, but it rather unravelled again in Mexico. From a troubled Friday in which he completed only 18 laps, to a more robust Saturday in which he secured a front row start. Although he took an early lead from polesitter Carlo Sainz, it rather unravelled as he battled to keep his position only to incure two hefty penalties for over-aggressive defensive moves on Lando Norris. It left him scrambling simply to save sixth place which has cut his championship lead to 47 points - still decent, but getting tight enough to have him worried.
George Russell, Mercedes (P5, 10 pts): 7.5/10
George Russell is consistently looking the better of the two Mercedes drivers, but that might be a result of a gradual 'easing out' of his team mate as Lewis Hamilton prepares to move to Ferrari. Fastest in FP1 before his accident in FP2, Russell was ahead on the grid but lost a spot to Hamilton at the start. He got it back on lap 15 but incurred some damage to his W15 that allowed Hamilton to get the place back with six laps to go. An entertaining private battle between the pair that didn't really involve anyone else.
