Lance Stroll, Aston Martin (P16): 3/10
Stroll’s poor run of form continued at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He broke an unwanted record by being knocked out in Q1 for the 75th time, more than any other driver in the history of F1. The Canadian found himself in the points for a brief moment after extending his opening hard tyre stint. He eventually pitted for mediums, but didn’t have the pace to climb back into points contention.
Nico Hulkenberg, Kick Sauber (P15): 6/10
The fundamental lack of pace of the Kick Sauber car is such that 15th can be considered a good result for Hulkenberg. Starting on the hard compound worked out well for the veteran German, who managed to overtake a host of cars in the second half of the race for his equal best result since the Chinese Grand Prix.
