Liam Lawson, Racing Bulls (P12): 6/10

It’s good to see Lawson showing his true racing ability back at Racing Bulls, and he displayed surety in the driving seat of his VCARB 02 throughout the weekend. He qualified in a higher position than teammate Hadjar, and performed a myriad of overtakes during the Grand Prix, including one on Alonso along the main straight on lap 15 and another on Doohan through the first corner on lap 28. Unfortunately he just dipped all four tyres off the tarmac when completing the latter move, and was subsequently handed a ten-second penalty for gaining an advantage as he didn’t give the place back to Doohan.

Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin (P11): 6/10

Alonso extracted the absolute maximum out of his AMR25, it’s just a shame that Aston Martin have so far been unable to make a car that can regularly challenge for top ten finishes. The Spaniard had a scary moment with his mentee Bortoleto at the start of lap 25, as wheel-to-wheel contact threatened to derail both of their races while braking for Turn 1. Apart from that we didn’t see much of Alonso out on track, but he displayed solid pace considering the subpar machinery beneath him.
