Carlos Sainz Jr., Williams (P18): 2/10
After making setup changes to his Williams and starting near the back, Sainz didn’t have high hopes for the Belgian Grand Prix. Despite performing one of the only overtakes throughout the entire field in the first few laps on Stroll, a hold up in the pits relegated the Spaniard down several positions. To add to Sainz’ misery, he was unable to keep his first set of slicks in check and had to pit again for fresh rubber, falling near the back of the pack where he remained for the rest of the 44-lap event.

Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin (P17): 3/10
It wasn’t a great weekend for Spanish fans of Formula 1. Alonso also endured a penalty before the race after swapping in new power unit components to his AMR25, but the shiny parts didn’t yield better performance. A gamble to pit early for slicks did allow the Spaniard to gain a few positions, but he couldn’t prevent his tyres from falling off a cliff, forcing him to pit again on lap 30. He showed great pace at the end but would have been disappointed in his failure to pass Ocon on much older rubber in the closing stages of the Grand Prix.
