On the sidepod images above, one can spot, among others, the FOM microphone used for TV broadcast, the McLaren Applied Technologies-supplied LRX-310B microwave receiver selected by the FIA to measure lap times, the strut bars, as well as the cooling pipework for the control electronics (bottom picture).

The microphone does not entirely convey the characteristic noise made by the Honda engine, which is fitted with a cylinder cut system that makes it sound more ‘aggressive’ compared to the other units.
