Sergey, like his team mate, had to cope with terrible under-steer and when he opened the DRS he lost both stability and downforce, which led to another early end to qualifying. On Sunday, the two safety car periods created an interesting situation for the Russian but he was on the hard compound when the others he was battling were better shod, which left him in the position of the sitting duck.
