It's obviously disconcerting for a driver to give his best effort in qualifying while not knowing why his team mate’s suspension failed, but all the same, Pierre moved on to Q2. On Sunday, he pretty much blended into the Silverstone scenery before coming on late in the going. He attacked Pérez, who was struggling with tired Pirellis, with the finish just a few laps away. The two made contact but Gasly survived, only to be hit with a post-race five-second penalty that kicked him out of the points.
