13. Romain Grosjean - 7.18/10

If these ratings only took in to account Saturdays, then Grosjean would probably find himself on top of the pile. Despite missing the majority of FP1 sessions to allow Jolyon Palmer to drive, Grosjean was mighty in qualifying this year and dispatched team-mate Maldonado 17-2 over the year. Rarely were they slight advantages either, with Grosjean often hauling his Lotus in to Q3 while Maldonado struggled to exit Q1.

Race results were less emphatic, perhaps suggesting Grosjean kept outperforming the car in qualifying but could not do so over a race distance. Still impressed to finish seventh on four occasions, and then delivered an outstanding performance in Belgium to take third place and secure the team’s only podium of the year despite having bailiffs in the garage. Still made a few errors, retiring six times in total including a spectacular crash in Russia, but was the clear pick of the Lotus pair.
