F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2020 Styrian GP

Daniil Kvyat (P10, 1 pt): 7.5/10
Daniil Kvyat's biggest impact on the weekend came when he was blocked by Charles Leclerc in the second round of qualifying. The Ferrari driver subsequently received a grid penalty which gave Kvyat himself a one place fillip so that he started the race from 13th. That was pretty much in line with the AlphaTauri's performance throughout Friday's practice sessions, suggesting he probably didn't lose out too badly overall. At the start of the race, he gained a couple of positions and settled in for the long haul, finally picking up tenth on lap 45 where he did well to fend off unwanted advances from others for the rest of the afternoon and pick up a shiny solitary championship point for the team as a reward.

Carlos Sainz (P9, Fastest lap, 3 pts): 8.5/10
After being put in the shade by his team mate's podium success last week, Carlos Sainz was looking to get his season back on track on the second visit to Spielberg. He was impressively quick in Friday's practice, finishing fifth fastest in the afternoon. And despite the completely different weather conditions, he not only delivered on that promise in qualifying but went two better, pipping Valtteri Bottas no less for third on the grid. Bottas soon had his revenge in the race, and Alexander Albon also quickly picked off the McLaren in the opening laps, showing the limits of the MCL35. Even so, Sainz then held on to fifth place all the way through to his pit stops on lap 32 - at which point problems with the right rear tyre change ruined all his efforts and dropped him out of the top ten. He eventually recovered to eighth, despite acceding to team orders to allow Lando Norris past on fresher tyres with ten laps to go, and made up for the loss of the position by picking up an extra point for the fastest lap
