Fernando Alonso - 6th place, 8 points - 8/10
At Ferrari, Alonso became renowned for his performances on the opening lap and he profited here too. An excellent reaction off the line had already seen him make progress from 14th on the grid, but avoiding the Turn 2 havoc ensured he ended the opening lap in seventh place. Now with a car which gives him a chance of defending - and with a slower Haas behind him - Alonso was able to pull a slight gap with points on offer. Verstappen’s retirement promoted him to sixth and Alonso was never going to give away any ground from there.
