While Bottas eventually beat him by over ten seconds, Massa did a crucial job for Williams in holding off Sergio Perez for almost the entire race. His first stint was shorter than his team-mate's and led to him letting Bottas through before Perez was immediately on his tail for the final 50 laps. With Williams in a fight with Force India, it was important Massa didn't put a foot wrong and his experience came to the fore as the Brazilian never looked flustered and ensured the fifth quickest team finished eighth and ninth.
