Was set to bounce back from a poor Singapore by beating Rossi, Stevens’ hard work was undone late on at 130R. Having qualified ahead and led his team-mate throughout, Stevens lost the rear in one of the fastest corners on the calendar and pulled off a remarkable save to keep the car out of the barrier. It ruined his race relative to his team-mate, though, after a strong race until that point.
