Hamilton fails to score higher than his Mercedes team-mate despite having taken pole position, with a poor start proving costly to any hopes of victory. Hamilton dropped to fifth on the first lap - with Rosberg able to force him wide at Turn 1 even if it was unintentional - and then could only regain one position before being stuck behind Max Verstappen’s Toro Rosso. After the red flag he moved up to third without passing anyone on track but defended well from Vettel in the closing stages.
