F1i Driver Ratings for the 2025 Miami GP

Max Verstappen, Red Bull (P4) 8/10

Any doubts that Verstappen would slow down in fatherhood were crushed after the defending Champion claimed pole position yet again in a car that is far from the fastest. Unfortunately he was always going to struggle to retain the lead in the Grand Prix, and despite displaying his usual aggressive defensive skills both McLarens had passed the Red Bull driver by lap 18. Russell then passed the Dutchman in the pitstop phases and that was all she wrote for the rest of the race. We can forget about the sprint; the pitlane incident with Antonelli wasn’t his fault and he was unlucky to come away with no points from it.

George Russell, Mercedes (P3) 7/10

We think Russell will count himself lucky to come away from the Miami Grand Prix with a podium to his name. The Briton was noticeably uncomfortable behind the wheel of his W16 all weekend long, and his rookie teammate was clearly faster than him over the course of the three days. But luck found him when he pitted under the Virtual Safety Car, jumping both Antonelli and Verstappen as a result and climbing up to third. He kept out of trouble and showed decent pace to stay ahead of the defending Champion however, so can be proud to have gotten the best result possible given the dominance of the pair ahead of him.
