Nico Hulkenberg, Kick Sauber (P14) 4/10
Curiously the Kick Sauber car was lacking the pace that it had on recent weekends, as demonstrated by Hulkenberg’s forgetful race around the Zandvoort Circuit. Granted, the German spent the majority of the Grand Prix stuck at the back of a DRS train, but he also never looked likely to find a way past anyone during the 72-lap event.

Carlos Sainz Jr., Williams (P13) 6/10
Sainz celebrates his birthday on the Monday after the Grand Prix, but likely won’t be in a celebratory mood after what transpired during the race. The Spaniard was running well in the minor points paying positions until the first Safety Car restart on lap 26, where he collided with the Racing Bulls of Lawson. Both suffered damage and it looked like just a racing incident at first, but the stewards handed the Williams driver a ten second penalty for his role in the clash. It seemed unfair, and Sainz evidently thought so as well, calling the decision a “joke”. Either way, a race ruined and no points again.
