Alexander Albon, Williams (P7) 8/10
Albon started on the hard tyre, looking to extend deep into the race before pitting for a mad dash in the final handful of laps. That’s exactly what the Williams driver did, pitting at the end of lap 41 for fresh mediums and passing numerous drivers including Antonelli on his way to seventh by the end. But he did most of his good work before pitting, putting in consistently good lap times on aging hard tyres which meant he was still in the top ten after he came out of the pits. After starting in P14 on the grid, this can only be considered a great result for Albon.

Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari (P6) 7/10
Hamilton was keen to put on a show for the Tifosi at Ferrari’s home race, and he duly delivered with overtakes on the likes of Alonso and Bortoleto in the opening few laps. His progress slowed behind the Mercedes of Russell and he simply didn’t have the pace to get past his former teammate in the end, but four positions gained from a P10 starting grid position (owing to a five-place grid penalty) was a decent result for the seven-time World Champion.
